We love a good bus tech—they’re the ones who keep the wheels turning and the lights (literally) on.

If you're upgrading your fleet with school bus safety lighting systems, here are 5 things every school bus technician should keep in mind:

1. Power Draw Matters

Gardian Angel systems are engineered for minimal electrical impact. But always check how the system integrates with your existing load and panel. Overdrawing power leads to flickering or worse.

2. Placement = Performance

Don't guess—use the manufacturer’s install guide. The angle and placement of the light directly affect the beam’s reach and visibility.

3. Weatherproof Everything

Supplemental light systems face snow, rain, ice, mud—you name it. Make sure all connections are sealed, wires are routed with abrasion resistance, and no components are exposed to salt splash zones.

4. Coordinate With Drivers

Drivers know where students cross and what areas are darkest. Their input helps refine the install so that the light hits exactly where it should.

5. Know State Regulations

Gardian Angel is approved in 26 states, but wiring rules vary slightly by region. Double-check your local specs before final hookup.

Bottom line: It’s a smart install with a huge safety payoff.
