Back-to-school season is approaching, and while buses are designed to be highly visible, the real safety question is: are your students visible?

NHTSA confirms that school buses have flashing red lights, cross-view mirrors, and stop-sign arms. But children walking to or waiting for the bus can still be hard to see.

Practical Steps:

• Equip students with bright clothing or reflective gear

• Practice safe walking routes to and from bus stops

• Ensure children understand stop-arm rules and flashing light meaning

• For districts: review stop locations and identify areas with low visibility
